Professor Ioannis Ioannou looked at 180 companies in the United States. Companies were classified as either traditional or sustainable.
Ioannou shares that sustainable companies significantly outperformed the traditional companies in terms of portfolio / stock performance.
He also shares how conversations between the company and shareholders breakdown. These conversations showed traditional companies have a higher focus on short-term, while sustainable companies have a long-term focus.
It’s an interesting concept that he refers to as “sustainability DNA.”
